چکیده

-For conventional op amps design open loop poles are usually in the left-half plane. For amplifiers with negative impedance gain enhancement the open loop pole is adjustable and it can be in the left-half plane or in the right-half plane. In this paper, we justify that it does not require a left-half plane open loop pole for designing a stable close loop amplifier. As a matter of fact, the amplifier exhibits both faster and more accurate settling when the open-loop pole is modestly in the right-half plane. New open loop pole bounds are derived for amplifiers with adjustable open loop pole to guarantee stability and to enhance settling time performance.

THD Analysis in Closed-Loop Analog PWM Class-D Amplifiers

In this paper, we investigate the parameters affecting Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) and Power Supply Rejection Ratio (PSRR) in PWM Class D Amplifiers (CDAs) on the basis of linear models with feedback. From our mathematical analysis, we show that the THD of a PWM Class D amplifier with feedback can be improved by increasing the gain of the integrator through adding another amplifier at the o...

CMOS Active-Cascode Gain Stage

An s-domain analysis of the full dynamics of the pole-zero pair (frequency doublet) associated with the broadly used CMOS active-cascode gain-enhancement technique is presented. Quantitative results show that three scenarios can arise for the settling behavior of a closed-loop active-cascode operational amplifier depending on the relative locations of the unity-gain frequencies of the auxiliary...

A High - Swing 2 V CMOS Operational Amplifier with Gain Enhancement using a Replica Amplifier

This open-loop gain enhancement circuit in 1.2pm CMOS does not require cascode or long-channel transistors, thus maximizing output swing and input common-mode range [1,21. Since gain enhancement is achieved not by increasing output resistance, but by matching main and replica amplifiers, high effective open-loop gain is maintained even with resistive loads. This circuit can be used with any tra...

Equivalent Gain Analysis for Nonlinear Operational Amplifiers*

For low-voltage, low-power circuit design, the linear model for operational amplifiers is insufficient to accurately predict the static and dynamic behavior of the circuit. This paper introduces a nonlinear model for operational amplifiers based on amplifiers’ DC transfer characteristic. By using this nonlinear model, the behavior of an operational amplifier with feedback network can be describ...

OA-13 Current Feedback Loop Gain Analysis and Performance Enhancement

With the introduction of commercially available amplifiers using the current feedback topology by Comlinear Corporation in the early 1980’s, previously unattainable gain and bandwidths in a DC coupled amplifier became easily available to any design engineer. The basic achievement realized by the current feedback topology is to de-couple the signal gain from the loop gain part of the overall tra...
